Katja Zaletel
Katja Zaletel is the head of the Department of Nuclear Medicine, University Medical Centre Ljubljana, and an associate professor of internal medicine at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Ljubljana.
She graduated at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Ljubljana, in 1997. In 2002 she completed a PhD focusing on predisposing factors of thyroid autoimmunity. She is a specialist in internal as well as in nuclear medicine. In 2014 and 2016 she was a visiting scientist at Faculty of Medicine at the University Hospital of Endocrinology Ivan Penchev, Sofia, Bulgaria, and in 2018 she was a visiting professor at Faculty of Medicine at the Ss. Cyril and Methodius University in Skopje, Republic of North Macedonia. Her research is focussed on the investigation and development of novel approaches in management of thyroid disorders as well as on nuclear medicine diagnostic and therapeutic procedures in thyroid diseases, which can be translated into clinical practice. She authored and co-authored several articles in this field and contributed as a co-organiser and a lecturer at several postgraduate schools and courses. She is also a secretary of the Slovenian Nuclear Medicine Association.
